Why is your blog titled Page 5?

This blog is an experiment.  It is here as a replacement concept to facebook.  I don't plan on releasing it to my facebook network until I have at least 5 pages worth of content.  It is possible that this blog won't be released for at least another five months.

I'm throwing out some of my dad's paintings this weekend.  I'm excited to get rid of some of them.  I have too many physical objects.

Starter thoughts on Google versus Facebook

Facebook offers limited community contact.  You can create groups of people and share information specifically with them.

Google has hangouts for this kind of communication.  The Google blog platform allows users to reach further audiences than Facebook allows its users to.

Still, the google search engine does not allow us to control what google says about us.  Google has the power to create an image for us, beyond our own control.

Facebook attempts to give us control over what users can learn about us, but still struggles.

Google (to me looks like):  You don't have much control over what people know about you, let us handle the image issue for you.

Facebook (to me looks like):  Learn a lot about our platform, and we can help you grow.

Instagram:  IMAGE IS EVERYTHING.

New writing, and home

I don't think that people are reading books as much these days, but I'm writing one anyway.  It's basically my own version of "facebook", but with a year intermission.  I won't publish it for a while longer.  It's a little sad and isolating, not using facebook in the same way that everyone else is.  But I know people that don't use it at all.

In the future, I'd like to help non facebook users integrate to the platform, or make a choice, and think about creating a google blog.

Many people alive today have the potential to connect with the world, but at what point does one step up to the challenge of actually hitting the "connect" button?

"Add friend"
I added quite a few of them, but no longer felt like I was connecting with "friends" anymore.  It was just a network of people that I've met.

My facebook is now a private network, and I prefer to post to the general public right now.  I'm choosing google as my platform to reach an audience these days.  I imagine that I'll have a quiet opening.  At this point: I have not released the information that this blog exists yet.  Without a proper backdrop to explain why I am switching to google, there is no point in sharing this information just yet.

Some day beyond June 25th, 2019, I will post this blog available to my facebook network.

Joined twitter

Just browsing the network.  I have little incentive to be active on social media, so I am mostly just watching it at the moment.  I want to contribute to the conversations happening, but in unique locations.

People get paid to report the news, but it is also people that are in the news.  Why are the victims of the news not the ones being paid?  To those of you on social media now:  We are all some level of being a reporter at this point.

People should be paid for posting to social media.  It is as much of a job as any other.

Day one of reporting will be news lite: The Tech World.  Three websites post about the google outage on this past Sunday:

The object of this blog is to create an alternative posting place to facebook.  Facebook should not be the only way we socialize in this world.  So I am investing in this blog as a place to meet new people.  If you are a facebook friend of mine and have found this blog:  feel free to interact with it, I encourage comments.

Leaving FB

As time passes, I continue to want to try different forms of communication.  Facebook reaches my direct network, but google holds the potential to reach a randomized market.  I find myself wanting to move away from facebook, and into the google-plex that I call: "my" (blog-space).
